Senior Women - Live Long, Live Well, Get out and Exercise

Live Long, Live Well means just that and in order to make this happen exercise needs to be part of our weekly regimen. I live in a community where the majority of women are retired and in their 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. This is the most fit community I have ever lived in and the one common denominator of watching all the woman be healthy is that they all exercise. I went to a yoga class and was almost embarrassed because I was the youngest one in the class and the least fit. The majority of women in the class were in their late 70’s and 80’s. So when I say live well I mean live healthy. Take a trip to a retirement community where women are not exercising and the women will be less healthy. If the price I have to pay is to exercise to stay out of the hospital, well small price wouldn’t you say?
I love the articles in Ecumen so of course to further what I am saying and to add statistics take a quick look at Ecumen’s article on woman and exercise, click here . I’m up for a longer life “if” my life is a healthy life, how about you?

I would say this works for both genders. Once I passed the 50 mark I got a lot more interested in exercise because I was old enough to see a direct correlation between quality of life and maintaining my weight and staying active. That becomes a big motivator.
